The
code of Ethics and Practice for Counsellors states that “Counselling
may be concerned with developmental issues, addressing and resolving
specific problems, making decisions, coping with crisis, developing
personal insight and knowledge, working through feelings of inner
conflict or improving relationships with others”.
Here in the Drug Treatment Board a team of fully
trained and accredited counsellors are available to engage in one
to one session with any client attending the clinic.
Here are some thoughts from the founders of psychotherapy.
Carl Roger: ‘It
seems to me that at bottom of each person is asking, “who
am I really? How can I get in touch with this real self, underlying
all my surface behaviour? How can I become myself?’’’
William Glasser: “choice
theory is about making better choices, but we have to understand
the reason for bad choices before we can make good one.”.
